week seventeen

frogged yarn

I wasn’t happy with the project I made so this happened.

blue yarn

That is right. I completely (almost completely undid since there were a few days of getting tangled yarn untangled, which is always a pain in the ass) undid the yarn to remake the jacket.

dyed fabric

The light is off as they are both way darker in person, since the one on the left looks more navy uniform blue and the one on the right looks almost black. The one on the left started off white while the other one was a wrap I bought from Anthologie that started off a bit pale butter colored.

I put a whole pack of navy blue and dark green together.

By the way, it hurts to have hot water splashed on yourself so be careful when adding the hot water into a bucket where you had dissolved the powdered dyes.  If you look at the Rit Dye formula chart, it is 224. I was hoping for more greenish but I don’t mind how it turned out. I plan on making a scarf with the lace.

cookie sandwiches

This was an experiment in using up cream cheese.

The cookie part

1 cup flour

1 cup sugar

about 20 ounces of cream cheese

one whole bar of Hershey’s chocolate

Mix together then let it sit in the fridge for an hour. The dough is still sticky so dust the board with flour or cocoa powder then roll out and cut into shapes you like. Cook at 350 for 12 minutes.

Caramel was from a cookbook but use your favorite recipe for the filling.

I didn’t cook it enough to solidify so the filling is oozing. Even though I let both sit in the fridge overnight.

Basically, put the caramel between two cookies. I cut a few caramels with a cutout then gave up and used a dinner knife and scraped some on one cookie.
