week 253

I’ve been knitting for about three years or so, after so many stops and starts.

When I first learned to crochet, I did the scarf route and gradually learned more complex things. I don’t think I’ve ever knit a scarf, and started with shawls or wraps although my first project was a pullover that I did both knit and crochet in, but it’s sitting in my closet for reasons. I’ve only made three pullovers or cardigans that I have worn, two of them on a regular basis. I’ve made way more, obviously.

The funny thing is I realise it’s easier to go top down when I crochet, but it has to be from the bottom when knitting.

That said I am starting another top down pullover, not sure about the sleeve length at the moment. The crochet thread mixed with one of the bits of yarn not successfully dyed that one time and so far, so good. Just going to use these until I run out then use the one bought at the thrift store, to finish the top.

I originally knit the beginning, but it didn’t feel right, so frogged the yarn and started off with a 3.75mm hook.

The pullover I’m most focused on at the moment, is on piece four.

I messed up on binding off the third piece by binding off at the end of a row, and not at the beginning. So, this totally happened.

when you bind off on the wrong side

This is the current progress on the fourth panel.

In the meantime, I did bind off the shoulder seam, then sew up the sides of the first two, leaving a space for an armhole. For armholes, I always leave eight inches, or about 20 cm, of space, because it leaves ample room.

After finishing up this panel, I will bind off the shoulder then sew up the side, then it will be time for the two middle panels.

Didn’t get so far.
